At a shooting Tuesday night in Gage Park on the Southwest Side, a 16-year-old kid was murdered and a man was injured.

About 10:10 p.m., the youngster and a 20-year-old male were strolling in the 5200 block of South Artesian Avenue when they were approached and shot.

According to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office, Juan Chavez, 16, was struck many times and transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He resided roughly a block from the scene of the shooting.

The man was shot in the back three times and transferred to the same hospital, where he was in severe condition.

The attacker was dressed in blue jeans and a gray hooded hoodie.

There have been no arrests reported.
